The Biodiversity Collage : a fun, collaborative tool to raise awareness of biodiversity issues in the private sector
Organized by Cap Business océan Indien (Capboi) as part of the Varuna Biodiversité program, through the VARUNA_B4B (Business for Biodiversity) project, the biodiversity collage is a tool to support companies in the region in their effort tointegrate biodiversity issues into business models.
In January and February 2024, Cap Business OI was able to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity among employees and decision-makers from 2 Mauritian companies (Groupe Currimjee and Groupe Beau Vallon) and, through these workshops, laid the foundations for the capacity-building activities of the Varuna_B4B Project.
Five modules to understand biodiversity
The three-hour workshops offered participants a unique opportunity to delve into the complexities of biodiversity through five carefully designed modules. Divided into small groups, participants had the opportunity to explore in depth the different aspects of biodiversity and the challenges it faces.
Through these 5 modules, participants were able to better understand the concepts of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and become aware of the impacts, pressures and consequences of human activity on biodiversity.
Biodiversity collage
Beyond the theoretical modules, the event also offered an artistic dimension with the creation of a collective collage. Through this creative act, participants expressed their commitment to preserving biodiversity and symbolized the unity needed to meet the environmental challenges we face.
The Biodiversity collage organized by Capboi as part of the Varuna program was therefore much more than just an educational workshop. It was a call to action, a reminder of our collective responsibility towards nature and future generations.
