The “Fonds Business Biodiversité Océan Indien” is a project implemented by Expertise France, a French public agency of the Agence française de développement (AFD) group.

 

The project

The FBBOI focuses on engaging the private sector, whose activities have a major impact on the environment, to adopt more sustainable practices. The aim is to encourage companies in the south-west Indian Ocean to reduce their ecological impact and contribute to the preservation of local ecosystems. The project responds to an urgent need for cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as with civil society, to meet the region’s major environmental challenges.

Area of intervention: Union of Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles

  • Diagnose economic actors and sectors involved in the ecological transition in the south-west Indian Ocean.
  • Launch and manage a call for projects
  • Monitor and support winning projects
  • Capitalize on achievements and promote continuous learning
